Join us for a very special evening at the historic Arts Club of Washington in support of the Carl Schmitt Foundation. The evening features an exhibit by 20th Century American painter Carl Schmitt. A selection of Schmitt’s paintings will hang in the former parlor of 5th President of the United States James Monroe. These works of art have never been displayed collectively.

Guests will be treated to a cocktail hour followed by a three course dinner presented by Executive Chef of the Arts Club, Ken Kievit. Following dinner and dessert there will be a very special concert played by Juilliard trained classical concert pianist  Christopher Schmitt. Schmitt is a great-grandson of the artist. Christopher will be playing an intimate program in which he will explore through sound, concepts that his great-grandfather explored in paint. The concert will focus on the Aristotelian concepts of substance and accidents in how they relate to Schmitt's visual art and the work of the master composers of western classical music.

Christopher Schmitt, great-grandson of the artist, is a classical concert pianist and chamber musician living in Washington DC. He holds a Doctorate in Piano Performance from The Juilliard School, and performs regularly in small ensembles at the White House and DC metropolitan area as a member of the President's Own US Marine Band.
